10 Things ‘Bout Me ~ Lite

Mardel at SewDistracted tagged me weeks ago with this 10 Things meme. Reviewing life is weird and I’ve dragged my feet. But no longer, here goes:

WHAT WAS I DOING 10 YEARS AGO?
1998 I was working many long hours as the “business manager” for my husband’s company, chained to the office desk or shipping area 12+ hrs a day, 7 days a week in summer. I won’t bore you with the details. Nobody wanted my job.

I had lost my Mother the year before in a brutal robbery of her condo in Mexico and was still cleaning up that mess as she had bought a double wide and put it on my land, leaving me with the payments, etc. I had to subdivide my place, finish developing Mom’s place, finish the remodeling of my house, and put both lots and houses up for sale.

I buried my Father.

My husband needed a hip replacement and could barely walk so I drove him to all the sales conferences and stood in for him when he was too tired to move. And then I nursed him through his surgery.

I had a 1/4 acre vegetable garden, processed much of our food and baked all our bread.

I did not sew. I rarely relaxed. I was pretty stressed out.

WHAT ARE 5 THINGS ON MY TO-DO LIST TODAY?
Relax all morning (health related thing going on) and then drive the 14 miles to The Stitchery
Finish skirt to go with SnF jacket.
Start sewing customers’ orders.
Banking and School management issues
Plot out dinner and avoid stress!!!

SNACKS I ENJOY:
(rarely do I snack)
Dried fruits of all kinds
Nuts
Carrots
Fritos and homemade guacamole

THINGS I WOULD DO IF I WERE A BILLIONAIRE:
Pay off all company and personal loans and invest in new tooling at DH’s company so he could get away to travel with me.

Hire qualified people to run the companies and pay higher wages to the long term employees and fund retirement and insurance for all.

Travel softly, quietly and slowly throughout each continent, fondling fabrics and learning about the latest developments in the textile world as well as the traditional mfg methods and procedures.

Live in Kyoto, Japan. Spend time in Dubai, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, and Madagascar

Find projects to fund that benefit women and children.

Come back to The Stitchery and my home and sew

PLACES I HAVE LIVED:
Southern California
Northwest Arkansas
Western Michigan
Southern Louisiana
South Florida
Central Tennessee

WHAT TYPE(S) OF WORK HAVE I DONE?
Sales, manufacturing, legal, business, educational, technology. Now I sew and manage businesses.

SIX (6) “PEEPS” I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT
Considering how much I avoided this I’ll not tagged anyone new. If you like to tag yourself please do with a link back to The Stitchery so I’ll know to go read it!
