Coco? Anna?

I am reading this book in the evenings: Chanel, The Couturiere at Work, by Amy de la Haye & Shelley Tobin available from here

Is it me or do these two people share some common traits?

Anna Wintour

Caricature of Coco, Mam’selle Coc, j’voudrais un beau chaprau pour le dimanche, 1914, by Georges Goursat, from Chanel, the Couturiere at Work, The Overlook Press 1996, page 11.

About Mary Beth

I am fascinated by changing patterns and colored threads. I sew garments and am teaching myself to machine knit. Since selling the building that housed my workrooms, The Stitchery, I'm searching for a place to set up the knitting machines again. There must be room here somewhere!

  1. Perhaps Anna has ripped a page out of Mlle. Chanel’s book. La Wintour, however, does not seem to have the creative bones of Chanel. When was the last time Anna made up a dress? Oh, she is influential, no doubt, in a post-post modern sort of way, but concrete creativity does not seem to be her thing. She likes to think that she inspires others. Mainly though, its about the number of ad pages, you know?
