Vicki’s the Winner! and Cherchez La Femme 2008

Thanks to the good friends we make when sharing in cyberspace Vicki at HongKongShopper blog is the winner of the DVD Fitting set with the “most votes in the comment section” Yay!!! The hours she’s put in on her fitting shells and her diligent posts about it for the past number of months have paid off in an unexpected way, eh? Sewists are so kind and generous, I know these DVDs will make the rounds of those who need them.

Meanwhile, back at The Stitchery, I have hardly even been there. I’ve had the most frustrating week trying to finish up the commercial sewing. I did so want to have something fashionable, made by me, to post here by today but noooooo, the preschool has again taken up almost a full 40 hours. Ouch!!! I’ve been bit in the backside again. I guess all new businesses require lots of extra time as “par for the course” but this is too much “par” for me (she said with a grimace). I can never even guess all the problems this school will present in one day.

How do I quit this job???? I’m smart, I should be able to get out from under this extra load. I’m dying to get back to sewing up the fabrics bought at Silk Roads in Austin, TX, and Textile Fabrics in Nashville, TN, earlier this year.

I so wanted to get to play with this Eva Dress pattern this winter

Now here it is Spring already in the northern hemisphere.

And I just found out this weekend that I have a sales conference next weekend in Huntsville, Alabama. It would be wonderful if I could have time to catch up with Sew Random’s Lisa but these trips don’t usually allow for getting away from the booth and out on the town.

Fashion does make the woman, puleeze don’t think it don’t!!! What about that Carla Bruni?

Searching Telegraph.co.uk produces major headlines re the lovely, and hopefully reformed, M’me Sarkosy.

Have you ever seen flats bring a country to it’s feet so fast???? Never! A demure presence, a beret that looks like a Jackie Kennedy O pillbox … a little sleeze … Cherchez la femme!

About Mary Beth

I am fascinated by changing patterns and colored threads. I sew garments and am teaching myself to machine knit. Since selling the building that housed my workrooms, The Stitchery, I'm searching for a place to set up the knitting machines again. There must be room here somewhere!

Too bad about your conference. Maybe you could just sneak out 🙂
(I thought you were going to put the “Posted by Mary Beth at The Stitchery” at the beginning of every post.)

  3. Thank you, thank you, thank you! To Mary Beth for your generosity and to Sigrid, Tany, Angela, Els and Marji who nominated me….(boy I sure must need help…lol).

Once I am done I will forward them onto Beth. This may take a while as they need to make it to the other side of the world (Australia) before I get to see them. Beth if you would like to email me as Maiorano AT bigpond DOT net DOT au, I can talk to you later about forwarding them on.

  9. Hello back to you, dear Paco! I’ve been wondering what you’ve been sewing these days.

Lisa: that would be so fun!

However, I’ve just been informed that it will be in Birmingham this year.

I must not have been listening right!, the main speaker, a good friend, is from Huntsville, and it was in Huntsville last year but, no, not this year. It’s always nice to know where you’re going before you get on the road 🙂

  10. I’m so happy that Vicki and Beth and maybe a few beyond them will be able to take advantage of your lovely offer.
And that EvaDress is great. Can you just switch fabric choices and play with it for spring-summer instead?
