I’ve been working 7 days a week for the past two weeks and today I’m finishing up the orders for existing products. Yippee!!!
No rest for the weary though.
HusParter and I are deep in the throes of new product development. We are designing a hanging display for Hello Wood Product’s Small Numeral Cards, a traditional material in Montessori classrooms. However the size and color coding of Hello Wood’s Cards are not the same as other companies’ so we have been asked to make the hanging display for our cards, both the Small Numeral Cards and the Large Numeral Cards..
We’ve planned, measured, calculated, discovered the materials and thread, cut, stitched and tested. HusPartner has stitched his first few seams on the sewing machine today! He’s a natural, I tell you.
Right now he’s off to use Hello Wood’s laser to cut a new template for our first creation. It has been drawn in CorelDraw and will be cut out of an 1/8″ thick sheet of clear plastic. He has accurately inputted the cutting lines and the stitching lines for marking. I’ll lay the plastic template down over the fabric (type of fabric is a secret but it will be revealed when the product is ready to market), insert an erasable marker in the cuts in the template and draw out all the cutting lines and stitching lines. We should be able to make and market at the going rate for these items and still make a bit of a profit.
Templates are everything in our world.
Can’t get a picture uploaded tonight no matter what trick I try. Maybe that will be possible in the next few days. Sorry!!!
