Front Porch

Posted on

Ta Da!!! Well, kind of. I’ve got to hose down the walkways and put in more plants. This pix was taken after dark and at the end of a long weekend of work:

2 of 4 sets of new plants are watered in. In the back is a Mountain Laurel, “Keepsake”, a deep red starting from burgundy buds

and the other is a dwarf Buddelia (butterfly bush), Lo and Behold Blue Chip. I kind of wish now that I had found the newest one, Purple Haze, as it will drape to the ground and become a dwarf ground cover. Maybe we’ll add it another year. Here’s the Blue Chip when it is planted en mass. Its flowers point upward

What’s left to plant is the Wing Ding dwarf shrub rose in front

and dwarf Softouch Holly off to the side

Here’s how it happend

First we tried to pull the Box Woods out

Well that didn’t work so … Chain Saw Time!

Next One!

Thick, too thick even for birds to nest in

About Mary Beth

I am fascinated by changing patterns and colored threads. I sew garments and am teaching myself to machine knit. Since selling the building that housed my workrooms, The Stitchery, I'm searching for a place to set up the knitting machines again. There must be room here somewhere!

  1. You home is so pretty, Mary Beth! The new plantings will be glorious! What alot of work both of you did.

  2. Be sure to share a pic when everything is in full bloom. I’m looking forward to seeing that. It’s going to be beautiful, putting my neglected yard to shame.
